pryda friends has been dormant for quite some time whilst its owner - eric prydz has been concentrating on his own work. this relaunch hits hard with a carefully selcted track that eric has been caning for quite some time - sebastian leger - the people. the original track has been huge on the club scene for quite some time with its marilyn manson vocal refrain and guitar licks being used to enormous effect. as if that wasnt enough eric prydz has done his own remix on the flipside which surprise, surprise - is an absolute stormer with its vocoding of the main vocal loop and building driving feel. this is yet another winner from the prydz stable.

part 2 features lil dirty, a new production team whose style experiments with different sounds & ideas from deep & tech house through to progressive and techno. jim rivers steps up with head wobbling emix in his trademark glitchy, groovy electronic style. finally, dino barretta teams up with alex colle and pacha ibiza resident luca g with the result being a big room house production with a really strong vocal hook.

untill last year sound and stereo were just two words that popped up every once in a while in your hifi-installation s manual. in the beginning of 2008 those two words stopped being just random: sound of stereo saw the light of day. in only a few months time they conquered the hearts of music lovers all over the world. the belgian scene also responded really well to their presence and they were noticed rather fast by the famous lektroluv label. in november their first ep came out and had massive response in belgium and abroad. one of the singles on that ep – supah dupah – is said to be played over 100 times each weekend in belgium alone . a follow-up ep is nothing more than a logic continuation of this succes. the new single heads up! is already being tracklisted by the likes of crookers and bloody beetroots. bloody beetroots liked the track so much that they decided to make a remix of it, as well as dj manaia, a portuguese wonderboy from the kuduro-surroundings of buraka som sistema. at the end of february the new ep will be presented at culture club ghent, one of belgium s most legendery clubs, where international bigshots such as 2manydjs and the glimmers had a residency. in the beginning of march the heads up! ep will be available online and in the shops. so get your rocks off, your heads up and enjoy the sound of stereo!

now his latest brainchild sees the daylight. spaceshuttle backpack is another pumping, techy and warm tune that will stir up many dance floors around the globe. the original track was given that special new york ish remix treat by no one less than gaby dershin, who as most of you know is half of world renowned producer duo bit crushers. the second remix comes from prinsjan and dennis ruyer, a producer duo with genuine radio roots, being radio dj?s on ducth radio station radio538. these blokes took their spaceshuttle backpack interpretation to the deeper side of house music. all in all this again resulted in a very versatile package that will have quite an impact over the next couple of months for sure. a fresh sound has arrived, and those seeking surprises on the dancefloor are advised to plug in to patch park.

first making waves after being played by sasha & digweed at wmc 2008, lalalalalala became something of an unsung classic with a simple yet unforgettable vocal. here, james harcourt produces a no nonsense dancefloor killer of a remix. starting deep, the track builds with an irresistible groove. the breakdown strips down to a pad, brings the guitars and synths from the original mix and builds to a massive crescendo and drop. on the flip, neoteric follows up his brilliant imprecation single on twisted frequency with a more intricate, musical take on the track. full of energy and emotion, this is progressive house at its finest.

sweet 16 is a perfectly judged slice of disco punk, producer grahmzilla hooking up a beat which sounds like the clash hanging out at studio 54 while isis tells of the joys and dangers of being sixteen and ruling the dancefloor. its not clear whether the natural stage genius (time out) is encouraging under age sex, cautioning against it or just suggesting engaging in some healthy exhibitionism. whatever the message she makes it sound great. cruise low is as low slung and bass heavy as you d expect from the title, isis whispering about popping the trunk with a mixture of enticement and threat. bonus track whateveruneed is an epic instrumental electro symphony from grahmzillas hard drive. ny mover and shaker eli escobar rounds out the package with a mix of sweet 16 which harks all the way back to planet rock...

first vinyl pressing of twin infinitives since the original vinyl issue in 1990. after moving to san francisco, royal trux released the highly experimental double album twin infinitives. this album remains an extreme work on the periphery of rock music, worthy of being compared to lou reeds metal machine music and suicides debut album. at only four subdivided tracks, none of which clock in under 15 minutes, the record has plenty of time to weave a mesmerizing web that is sometimes menacing, sometimes startling. for all of its high brow allusions, twin infinitives nearly reeks of vice, a dark, sordid feel pervades the record, and the listener can almost picture the band recording in a filthy apartment in the middle of the night in various states of intoxication and debauchery.

despite being launched in the early nineties, the incredible moton records inc have only released just over 20 records. a co-operative effort between djs diesel, harvey, faiths dave jarvis and ashley beedle, this label has expertly amended and extended many an undiscovered, lost classic. as passionate afficionados and music lovers, their selections for the moton treatment are always dealt with respectfully, and released in super limited quantities, hence the crazy prices they reach in the second hand market !this superb three-tracker is another gem, featuring another trio of superb rarities. the quality is off the scale, the pressing is a one-off - you know what to do !

rezkars fascination with music began with his parents record collection. listening to local radio stations as a child, he heard 80s tracks. as an adult he discovered the magic of 60s and 70s jazz and funk. one day, his cousin played a track that he immediately fell in love with. he later learned that this was house music. he discovered the fruity loops sequencer software and thought, why not try to make my own tracks, after all, it cant really be that hard? deep house can sound deceptively simple. its a bit like japanese anime, rezkar says. it looks so cute and easy to draw, but try to actually draw it, and you will discover its even harder than realistic drawings. the thing about house is that if you try too hard it can come across as being very cheesy, but then again, if you dont do enough it can sound incomplete. finding the balance is not easy, rezkar admits. after hearing his music, one finds that he is learning this lesson quite well.

the debut record of ritmolider kaleidoscope is a traditional studio work with live performance and classic analog sound. being in the era of nu disco and re edits the author has tried to find his own way of making music based on traditional methods of performance. and hes got a beautiful symbiosis of instrumental improvisations and electronic melodiousness. at the begining of the record theres a superb remix by the beat broker - deep, groovy synth disco, highly recomended for dancefloor! the second track is a journey into obscure psychedelic funk with lots of improvisations and atmospheric tunes....a pity so sweet percussions are added so late. b2 tonight at the discotheque will carry you away by the real soviet disco vibe. a beautiful arp solo softly flowing through amazing effects and acoustic drums focused on free played funky basslines. the original version of kaleidoscope is also a very interesting one. a mood of this composition is changed all the time. the first seconds of the track you hear a tender melodic solo which makes you feel calm and relaxed, then you get the groove coming from an agressive arpeggio and dinamic percussion. soon this feeling gets interrupted with a sudden slap bass impromtu playing together with a synthy accompaniment, and it turns into another feeling, and so on... this really reminds of kaleidoscope effect!

as the lead front room representatives daniel steinberg has been one of the main flavours on the label with this being his third release in 2008. his releases are frequently played by the likes of ricardo villalobos, luciano, claude vonstroke and richie hawtin to name a few and his talents continue to blossom with every stroke. as well as having great success on front room recordings daniel also regularly airs is talents on labels such as style rockets, leftroom and grandpetrol. with the sounds of tracks like “cobra limbos”, >uptown< and >pay for me< still resonating around the dance floors of the world daniel now steps forward with three killer tracks showcasing his own unique take on house with a twist.

electric arguments is the first fireman album in 10 years, and this song based album couldnt be more different than its predecessors. for those who dont know by now, the fireman is a collaborative project between music icon paul mccartney and revered producer youth. the pair first worked together in the 90s when they made two ambient dance albums. originally the firemans identity was anonymous and was eventually revealed by the press as being paul and youth. in september it was announced that the fireman would this year release their first brand new material in a decade and this time there was a big difference - the duo had found their voice. speculation began, one studio insider was reported as saying the new songs sounds like arcade fire meets led zeppelin. certainly so far, anyone who has already heard the album has commented on just how accessible electric arguments is, compared to the first two fireman albums. this album is an eclectic and diverse collection of songs that show paul is still interested in pure musical possibilities. each track was written and recorded in the space of one day. the fireman went into the studio with no plan or clear direction of how they wanted the album to sound. the project took a life of its own and the results will surprise anyone expecting to hear the previous sound of the band.

groovebox ep is filled with some class a material for the raunchy dancefloor. first up there is into the club. this track is typical for channel x: it will blow off the roof in the club! as the title of the track already suggests, this is another one of channel xs lengthy journeys into nightlife extravaganzas. a wonderful fidgety bassline and a loop filled with loads of soulful vocal samples from strong male leads to sensitive female souls, this tune is both deep, touchful and destroying. the chainsaw effect session in the middle paves the way for more stomping tech-house business. no time to recover from this, because on the flip its straight onto the floor with wake up: a loop thats made of trillions of little cut-up effects, vocal bits and some straight four to the floor business. after a playful beginning the tune moves into an hypnotic piece of trippy techno only to be converted into a restless party anthem for the Überpeak-time. sick! perhaps there is some time to chill with the last of the three tracks that is against the wall. here it becomes clear what channel x are best at: to create dark, hard and moving electronic music with that special ingredient that is soul. this track is a perfect example: some frightening effects, lots of reverb on the creepy samples, but such a wonderfully harmonic sample that seems to shed light at the end of the never-ending afterhour. if there is a message to this music, it would be: you need to look hard, but there is always love. once again label boss oliver koletzki has picked up these two very talented producers very early upon their career and it has paid off: in one release being better than the one before
